In short. Yes. Besides yearly engagements, I take on engagements of one day, one week, one month or one quarter, each with its own price range. They are for well-defined, specialized issues, or for starting to work together. In-company training is another way in.

When it makes sense

A single day is enough when the issue is well defined and highly specialized; I often spend a day with companies in different cities. A quarter makes sense when the process to fix is complex and the company wants to see how I work before committing for a year. A short engagement clears up one specific point. A strategy needs months.
